You've probably seen the photo above. It was taken, and tweeted before Wednesday night's loss to the Clippers by Mr. Alex Conover. It's nothing short of amazing. Alexey Shved even posted the photo to Instagram after the game. I had to talk to these guys, I tracked down Gamiel Hall (aka Blake Griffin) and asked him a couple questions.
How did you come up with the idea to dress up as NBA players at an NBA game? Is this the first time you've done this?
My friends and I go to one T-Wolves game a year. Last year, out of the blue, we decided that we were going to dress up as some of the players. I dressed as Blake Griffin and my friends dressed as Rubio and Beasley. We got a lot of laughs and notice that night. So, we decided to do it once again this year.
If you could dress up as any NBA player who would it be?
If we somehow got the tickets to go to the Wolves v. Heat game, Chris Anderson would be the best by far.
Which Timberwolves player has the best facial hair?
Definitely Ricky Rubio's full scruff.
Did you guys ask fake Matt Barnes to exit Target Center when real Matt Barnes got ejected?
Yes, the fans at the game jokingly told "Matt" to leave. He ran up the steps as if he were leaving, which created a lot of chuckles through the crowd.
What advice do you have for anyone thinking about dressing up as an NBA player at an NBA game?
Our advice would be to try to imitate players that look the most like yourself to make things easier. Pay attention to detail so others know exactly who you're trying to imitate. Also, be prepared to get a lot of looks and laughs at the game. It's a very fun process.
